Thanksgiving week blog

I am so excited to spend the next several days visiting relatives and celebrating Thanksgiving!  First on my agenda, though, is to sleep in!  I've been up late the past few nights finishing Christmas projects, and editing photos from my most recent shoot.
You can see a few of them on my photography blog: http://momentscapturedbyshannon.wordpress.com/  or on my Moments Captured Facebook page.
The kids are also excited to be out of school for several days.  We took them to a late (8:45 pm) movie tonight, since they didn't have to be in bed early.  We saw the Smurfs!  Cute movie!  Smurfs was one of my favorite cartoons as a child.  :)  I love it when the kids and I can be on the same wavelength for some things.  They actually love lots of shows I grew up with. We check them out at the library.  They've enjoyed: Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Diff'rent Strokes, Dukes of Hazzard, Mork and Mindy, Full House, and many others.  I love spending time with them doing things that we all enjoy!  Hopefully, the next several days will be full of lots of great family time  - my my family and yours!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I figure it's about time to check in again.  I am loving the fall colors and weather this year (except today - it's COLD!)  I feel like I've been very busy - but it's mostly been all fun stuff.  I'm so blessed!  I spend a lot of time volunteering at the kids' school and working on my PTA committees, which is very important to me.  I get to work on my family history once a week, which has been very enlightening and interesting. The occasional photography job is very exciting for me, and every once in a while I find time to catch up on laundry. :)  I have to give my wonderful husband credit for doing the dishes more often than I do.  He's the greatest!

The past two weekends have been spent with my family - and Damian's first hunting season.  He was disappointed that they didn't get anything.  We also had our first Thanksgiving dinner for this year at the Gonzales'.  It was wonderful!  My mother-in-law is a great cook!  I also got to see my very talented brother in his high school musical, which was fun.
I'm looking forward to our next Thanksgiving dinner with my Grandad, who's driving in from CA. It's so wonderful when we get to see him!
So, I'm ready for Thanksgiving - but feel so unprepared for Christmas this year!  I don't know why, but I hope my "Christmas spirit" returns soon.
I did go out and scout a park location for a photo shoot this weekend, and they  already had Christmas decorations up.  It was very merry.

A new business and new blog

I am very excited to announce that I have started a new venture - Moments Captured - a candid event photography business. I have enjoyed photographing several events in the past few months, and look forward to many more in the future. There's not much there now, but I'vebeen working on putting together a new blog and a new Facebook page for this business. Please check out http://momentscapturedbyshannon.wordpress.com/ and Moments Captured on Facebook.

Spring 2011

When did this happen? To my poor, neglected blog (and blog readers), I am sorry it's been so long. I am so much better at keeping up with facebook, so find me there when I'm slacking on my blog. Apparently I've been busy with other things (work, PTA/yearbook, YW at church, and of course, family). We are all doing well. We're all healthy and happy (other than allergies) and doing well over all. The kids are enjoying school and getting good grades. BMX is about to start up for D. He is also still in scouts and dance and wants to join soccer and baseball. I think he'll have to make a couple important decisions. Angel is taking 4 types of dance lessons and will be 8 this month. Her baptism is scheduled for the end of the month. I am working in child care again, helping out at a friend's in-home day care business (getting my baby fix). I still have time to volunteer at the kids' schools, which I greatly enjoy. And I've been working more on my photography. I'm actually building a photography blog also, and I have begun to combine my photography on my FB business page for scrapbooking (I Need a Scrapbook). So far this year I have enjoyed photographing a few birthdays , a wedding reception , and a couple baby showers -not to mention the many family and nature photos I am continually taking. I have maxed out my computer's storage capacity!
I am so glad it's finally spring. Winter seems to have gone on and on, and I'm so happy to see flowers! I love taking photos of the beauty of spring. So far this spring, we've enjoyed a visit from some extended family, our annual Spring Birthday Bash, (here the kids are lined up to hit the pinata), and some other fun times with family and friends. (S'mores roast)
I am going to try to update my blog more often - and try to get my mind and my life a little better organized to stay on top of it. Wish me luck!
